They had been fed up before the game even dropped. It's little to do with gameplay and more to do with the lack of updates. Even the FIFA community clamored for modifications to FUT and within the last couple of years EA has made adjustments. Gameplay wise it is still a shitshow but the updates to content are made. The FUT reddit community is a lot larger compared to the magnitude of the MUT community. FIFA is catering to the majority that has desired to see FUT developments while Madden retains investing in MUT if their neighborhood is much more interested in Franchise.
I personally think that it's way better than earlier iterations, all of the entitled drooling kids who can't play without completely automated defence and nanoblitzes are simply having temper tantrums and screeching autisticly. Madden has been dreadful for some time regardless of the microtransactions. FIFA is not exactly what it was but it's still a good simulation of the game. It's always funny to see them such as"just do not buy it" however EA/2k have monopolized 3 of the most popular sports now. Pretty much do not have any other choice if you want to play a sport involving your favorite game, team, or players. It is just funny the jabs individuals who don't play sports games or COD take. Quality or not those matches are typically top 10 sales on all consoles. In addition, we don't have as many choices in their genres.

This. EA did a good here by simply taking the side of people standing up to tyranny. They could claim to be as progressive as they need, but their inner work culture is completely cut-throat, betray your best friend to get a bonus and a sports car, internally sabotage your rivals project, kinda civilization. There's a reason people hate EA both internally and externally. It is really pretty well known in Brazil, especially on TV, in regard to ratings it clearly loses out to football by a pretty wide margin, but I'd say it is on par with the NBA, Tennis and Formula 1 . For the previous decades cinemas have even begun to show that the Super Bowl in theaters live because it's a fairly big event.
